Overview:
The Interconnection Coordinator supports the engineering team throughout the full lifecycle of solar and energy storage projects, from initial utility application through interconnection approval, construction, commissioning, and Permission to Operate (PTO). This position serves as a central coordination point between the company, utilities, engineering consultants, and internal project teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Utility & Project Coordination
- Attend utility meetings, interconnection calls, technical meetings, and project coordination meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and distribute meeting notes, including decisions, action items, responsible parties, and due dates.
- Track utility requests, questions, comments, and required deliverables.
- Monitor interconnection-related email correspondence and ensure requests are routed to the appropriate team member.
- Follow up with internal teams, consultants, and utilities on outstanding items.
- Coordinate communication between Interconnection, Development, Engineering, Construction, Operations, consultants, and utilities.
- Maintain organized records of utility correspondence, studies, agreements, approvals, and other interconnection documentation.
Schedule & Milestone Tracking
- Maintain project-specific interconnection schedules and milestone trackers.
- Track key milestones including, but not limited to:
- Interconnection application and utility review
- Feasibility, System Impact, and Facilities Studies
- Interconnection Agreement execution
- Utility engineering and construction
- Commissioning and witness testing
- Meter installation and PTO
- Monitor upcoming deadlines and proactively notify responsible parties of required actions.
- Identify overdue or at-risk items and escalate concerns to the Senior Manager, Interconnection.
- Maintain accurate project status information and provide regular updates to the Interconnection team.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular project status updates to the Senior Manager, Interconnection.
- Maintain action-item logs, project trackers, and portfolio dashboards.
- Assist with agendas, meeting minutes, project status reports, and utility correspondence.
- Ensure commitments made during meetings are clearly documented and tracked through completion.
- Maintain clear and organized project documentation.
Process Improvement
- Support standardized interconnection processes, checklists, templates, and tracking tools.
- Identify communication gaps, recurring issues, and process improvements.
- Help establish consistent tracking and reporting practices across the company’s project portfolio.
Qualifications:
Required
- 2+ years of experience in project coordination, project administration, engineering support, utility coordination, construction coordination, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Procore, Smartsheets, Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
- Ability to professionally communicate with utilities, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
Preferred
- Experience working with electric utilities or utility interconnection processes.
- Experience in solar PV, battery energy storage, or other renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with utility interconnection studies and agreements.
- Experience with project management or project tracking software.
- PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification.
- Experience with PowerClerk

Compensation:
- Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000 USD
- Bonus: 10% of annual base salary
