Overview:

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, lead the month-end close process, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records in accordance with accounting standards. The role will manage and develop the accounting team, while strengthening internal controls and driving efficient processes. This position is well-suited for an experienced accounting professional with people management exposure and the desire to grow in a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to support high performance, accuracy and professional growth.
  • Assign responsibilities, set clear expectations, and oversee daily workflows to ensure timely and efficient completion of accounting tasks.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable team environment while promoting continuous learning, process improvement and adherence to best practices.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee core accounting functions including:
    • Revenue & accounts receivable
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Account balance reconciliations
    • Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit preparation with external auditors and respond to audit requests.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and enhance internal accounting policies and controls.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with project, operations, and finance teams to support timely and accurate financial data reporting.
  • Assist with system enhancements and accounting software optimization.

Qualifications:

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or CPA-equivalent designation strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Prior management or team lead experience required.
  • Proficiency in IFRS preferred
  • Experience in the Renewable Energy, Construction, Power, or Infrastructure sectors is an asset.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and ERP platforms; NetSuite experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adapt to shifting business priorities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
