Position Overview:

PureSky Energy (formerly Amp US) is a leading developer, owner and operator of US community solar and storage projects with headquarters in Denver, Colorado. With our community solar projects, we have helped over 2,000 customers switch to clean energy and save more than $1.3 million in annual electricity bills. We are making the benefits of community solar available to all, while supporting the transition to clean energy. Join us as we continue our success as a new, fast-paced and growing organization.

What we’re looking for:

The Controller will lead a team of up to 20 professionals providing leadership, management, and oversight for each of the following areas:

Financial Accounting and Reporting:

  • Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS and GAAP.
  • Maintenance of comprehensive financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Timely and accurate variance analysis to provide insights into financial performance.
  • Preparation and journal entry postings for various transactions, including payments, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
  • Ensuring thorough and appropriate reviews of supporting documentation, contracts, and financing agreements to ensure accuracy and proper authorizations.
  • Prepare/review accounting memos regarding capital raises, leases, tax equity and acquisitions.
  • Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.

Financial Analysis:

  • Performance of in-depth analysis of financial data to support business objectives.

  • Provide actionable insights to drive cost efficiencies and revenue growth.

Systems, Compliance and Controls:

  • Led the identification, design, and implementation of process improvement opportunities, including internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain and evaluate internal controls, including development and on-going management of all accounting policies to ensure appropriate design and operation to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors.

  • Optimize use of NetSuite (including Financial Reporting, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and other tools) to support accounting teams and on-going continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Develop, lead, mentor and motivate the accounting and financial reporting team members.
  • Collaborate with key senior leaders, operational teams, and functional departments to align financial goals with business objectives.
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders across the business to optimize resource allocation and optimize reporting and transaction workflow.
  • Support strategic initiatives and provide financial guidance for new ventures, including new projects, financing transactions and M&A.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, preferably in energy/utilities, nature resources, infrastructure, or real estate.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and IFRS reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software; strong knowledge and proficiency of NetSuite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills, ability to adapt to multiple demands, set priorities and achieve results on a timely basis. 
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and delivering results in a dynamic environment.

Salary:

Salary: $165,000 - $185,000 USD

Bonus Opportunity: 30% of annual salary
