      EASY TO SIGN UP

      How Community Solar Works

      By signing up to community solar, you are supporting the transition to renewable energy for all New Yorkers, while saving money.

      Step one: Sign up and we assign you a share of the nearest community solar program. We use your electricity bills to match your share to how much electricity you use. This maximizes your savings.

      Step two: Within a month or so of signing up, National Grid will start applying community solar credits to your account. The credits will be, equal to your share of the solar farm. 

      For example, if your share is worth $100, you will see the full $100 credited to your account.

      Step three: Start saving. You will pay for the community solar credits less your discount. If your share is worth $100, then you will pay $90. That’s up to 10% savings on your electricity bill.
