Overview:

The Senior Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of community solar projects, with a strong emphasis on project delivery, remediation, and operational efficiency. This leader will ensure that projects transition seamlessly from development to construction and into long-term operation, addressing challenges related to project delays, permitting, site remediation, and compliance. This position will report to the President and CEO of PureSky Energy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Completion & Execution:

  • Focus on the operational activities and issues associated with PureSky’s operating projects.
  • Manage the Asset Management Team.
  • Take inputs from the AM team, identifying plant underperformance, identify likely scheduling challenges and identifying solutions for the company to implement and resolve quickly.
  • Build a network of 3rd party consultants to rapidly address, resolve and remediate project issues as they arise on operating sites.
  • Support the final stages of project development through to commercial operation, identifying items that could impact on-time and on-budget completion.
  • This includes items related to structural challenges, inverter operations, integration with battery storage systems, proactive management of spare parts and a strategy to ensure proper availability of spare parts.
  • Oversee construction closeout, interconnection processes, and commissioning to ensure project readiness for energy production.
  • Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve delays, design challenges, and compliance issuies.

Remediation & Quality Contorl:

  • Develop and implement remediation strategies for underperforming or delayed projects, including addressing environmental, permitting, and construction-related issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including local authorities and landowners, to mitigate risks and ensure site compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure projects meet quality and performance benchmarks, leveraging industry best practices and innovative solutions.

Operational Leadership & Process Improvement:

  • Establish and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for project execution, completion, and remediation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize project timelines.
  • lImplement data-driven decision-making to proactively identify and address operational bottle necks.

Stakeholder & Risk Management

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project risks, implementing mitigation plans to ensure project success.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and utility partners to drive accountability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal sustainability and safety standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in solar energy, renewable energy infrastructure, or utility-scale project management.
  • Proven track record in project execution, remediation, and operations within the community solar sector or broader solar industry.
  • Strong relationships with independent contractors located near our project sites to identify quick resolution to underperforming projects.
  • Strong knowledge of interconnection processes, permitting, and construction closeout for solar projects.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing contracts, and driving operational excellence.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance, environmental impact mitigation, and risk management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
