Overview:

The Director, Development - East will be responsible for identifying development opportunities across the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States, with keen focus on Massachusetts and Maryland. Through policy resources, as well as team members and colleagues in the industry, this role involves implementing a development strategy, coordinating budget setting and achievement of development timelines. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the development team and driving company morale amidst a dynamic and energetic environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and track against appropriate stage-gates on capital investments related to the development of projects, before authorizing the capital spend associated therewith
  • Determine project development risks and opposition, as well as the likelihood of success at each stage
  • Manage team members and portfolio-based deliverables
  • Address schedules of projects to ensure targets are achieved, and risks flagged accordingly
  • Coach and mentor team members to increase efficiency and performance
  • Identify and set a department strategy
  • Implement process improvement to allow for more streamlined role delivery
  • Collaborate with all other departments including Interconnection, Real Estate, Finance, Engineering, Construction, Accounting and Legal
  • Work with leadership team to come to a decision on market and project investments
  • Lead development team meetings to review update and allocate work while communicating department priorities
  • Negotiate service contracts with third parties PureSky relies on for development support (ie. Landowner engagement, town meetings)
  • Streamline data flow and reporting while managing budget setting and tracking

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in the business, engineering, or another related discipline. Masters degree and/or Project Management Certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience with experience in the energy sector or engineering
  • Requires intimate knowledge of the power and renewable energy market dynamics
  • Leadership skills and experience in directly managing a team
  • A track record of working with leadership in a fast-paced and developing market
  • Experience successfully managing external stakeholders including vendors and consultants
  • Rigorous attention-to-detail, and work ethic
  • Requires the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends influencing the continued adoption of renewable energy
  • Strong prioritization, communication, and organizational skills are required
  • Extensive knowledge of the full cycle of renewable power generation development and origination
  • Ability to quickly step into new tasks and adapt to new circumstances in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
